It is the Group F and Group L cars that can have hand controls put on. The Astra Estate (Group L) cars have good feedback for manageability with transferring to/from in a wheelchair as well as ease of driving with hand controls. However, it should be noted that the Fiat Punto (Group F) cars do not have true automatic transmissions (torque converter). They have semi-automatic gears which can cause vehicles to roll backwards on heavy gradients when pulling away and changing from reverse to forward. It is questionable whether the Group F cars are actually suitable for hand controls at all. |
